<p>Der <b>Timor-Feigenpirol</b> (<i><b>Sphecotheres viridis</b></i>) ist eine <a href="V%C3%B6gel" title="Vögel">Vogel</a>-<a href="Art_(Biologie)" title="Art (Biologie)">Art</a> aus der Familie der <a href="Pirole" title="Pirole">Pirole</a>. Er ist <a href="Endemit" title="Endemit">endemisch</a> auf <a href="Timor" title="Timor">Timor</a> und der südwestlich vorgelagerten Insel <a href="Roti_(Insel)" title="Roti (Insel)">Roti</a>.

<p>Der männliche <i>Timor-Feigenpirol</i> hat einen moosgrünen Körper und einen schwarzen Kopf mit leuchtend roter Gesichtshaut. Das Weibchen ist braun, mit stark gestreifter hellerer Unterseite und matt blaugrauer oder rosafarbener Gesichtshaut. Die Jungvögel ähneln einem weniger auffällig gefärbten Weibchen.<sup id="cite_ref-ebird_1-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-ebird-1"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>1<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> <i>Sphecotheres viridis</i> ähnelt dem weiter verbreiteten <i><a href="Australischer_Feigenpirol" title="Australischer Feigenpirol">Australischen Feigenpirol</a></i>, ist jedoch kleiner und das Männchen ist mit Ausnahme des helleren Bürzels um die <a href="Kloake_(Biologie)" title="Kloake (Biologie)">Kloake</a> an der Unterseite (einschließlich der Kehle) vollständig gelb-olivfarben.<sup id="cite_ref-HBW_2-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-HBW-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

<p>Der <i>Osttimor-Feigenpirol</i> ist in denn Wäldern, Waldgebieten, Mangroven und dem Buschland auf den Inseln Roti und Timor beheimatet. Er ernährt sich überwiegend von Früchten, aber seine Nahrung umfasst auch Insekten, Nektar und kleine Samen. Er zeigt nomadische Tendenzen abhängig von der Verfügbarkeit von Nahrung und ist als geselliges Tier bekannt, das oft Schwärme bildet und in lockeren Kolonien brütet.<sup id="cite_ref-3" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-3"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>3<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup><sup id="cite_ref-4" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-4"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>4<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Sein Gesang besteht aus Imitationen, Schnattern und Zwitschern. <p>Der Timor-Feigenpirol gehört mit dem Wetar-Feigenpirol (<i>Sphecotheres hypoleucus</i>) und dem <a href="Australischer_Feigenpirol" title="Australischer Feigenpirol">Australischen Feigenpirol</a> (<i>Sphecotheres vieilloti</i>) zu den Arten der <a href="Gattung_(Biologie)" title="Gattung (Biologie)">Gattung</a> <i><a href="Sphecotheres" class="mw-redirect" title="Sphecotheres">Sphecotheres</a></i> in der <a href="Familie_(Biologie)" title="Familie (Biologie)">Familie</a> der Pirole. Synonyme sind <i>Oriolus viridis</i> und <i>Sphecotera viridis</i>. Der <a href="Binom_(Lexikologie)" title="Binom (Lexikologie)">binäre Name</a> leitet sich von den altgriechischen Wörtern σφήξ [<i>sphex</i>, Wespe] und θηράς [<i>thēras</i>, Jäger] und dem lateinischen <i>viridis</i> für grün ab.

<p>Der <i>Osttimor-Feigenpirol</i> ist mäßig häufig und wird daher von <a href="BirdLife_International" title="BirdLife International">BirdLife International</a> und der <a href="IUCN" title="IUCN">IUCN</a> in der <a href="Rote_Liste_gef%C3%A4hrdeter_Arten" title="Rote Liste gefährdeter Arten">Roten Liste gefährdeter Arten</a> als gegenwärtig „nicht gefährdet“ eingestuft, auch wenn die Bestände rückläufig sind.
